SILC Connection: SPIL Writing Guide – The New Resource for SPIL Development

Audience
This training is primarily for leadership at a SILC.
*While this session may be most relevant for the audience listed above, we welcome participation from anyone interested in the topic.
Description
This training will introduce the IL T&TA Center’s State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) Guide. Participants will learn how to use the guide to plan and write the SPIL. The training will show how the guide can support public input and group decision-making. It will also explain how to use the review worksheets and drafting tips to find missing information and improve SPIL language. Participants will leave with practical tools to develop a complete SPIL that reflects federal requirements and the Independent Living philosophy.
It’s the perfect opportunity for everyone involved with the SILC—whether you’re frontline staff, management, or a council member—to ask those burning questions and seek guidance.
Think of it as a supportive roundtable where sharing knowledge is the name of the game and where we can all help each other shine a little brighter. So, mark your calendars and get ready to connect, collaborate, and conquer those challenges together!
ASL, CART, and Spanish Interpretation will be provided.
