Providing CIL Services for Youth

This course will focus on strategies for involving and strengthening youth services at your Center for Independent Living.

Course Details:

  • This course does not go into details of Youth Transition, which is covered in another section.
  • 60-75 minutes
  • Great for newcomers to the Independent Living network
  • A 10-question assessment at the conclusion of the course
    • Must pass with 80% to receive a certificate of completion from the IL T&TA Center

Introduction

This course introduces the foundational concepts every SILC member, staff person, or partner needs to understand. You’ll explore why SILCs exist, how they evolved, what laws govern their work, and how they help ensure that people with disabilities lead statewide Independent Living systems.
