Webinar
Engaging the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community

Description
This session centers the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) community as a key population impacted by language access barriers. Participants will explore foundational aspects of Deaf culture and history, common communication access needs (e.g., ASL, CART, captions, relay services, plain language), and how to integrate ethical interpreting practices into IL service delivery while maintaining consumer control. The session emphasizes practical, cost-conscious strategies – leveraging planning, partnerships, and remote technologies – to provide effective access.
